How the 45-point scale works
Your IB Diploma score combines two parts: up to 42 points from your six subjects (each graded 1–7), plus up to 3 core points from the combination of your Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Extended Essay (EE) grades.

A grade of E in either TOK or EE results in the Diploma not being awarded, regardless of your other grades.

What is the minimum score to get the IB Diploma?
The commonly cited minimum is 24 points, but the full award criteria include several additional conditions (such as no grade of 1 in any subject, and limits on the number of low grades) — always check the official IBO diploma requirements or ask your coordinator for your exact situation.
Does CAS affect my score?
No — CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) does not contribute any points to your total score. It is assessed as complete or incomplete, but you cannot be awarded the Diploma without completing it.
Can I get 3 core points with a B in TOK and a B in EE?
No — B and B gives 2 core points under the current matrix. Only specific combinations (A+A, A+B, B+A) award the full 3 points.
