Who tends to do well in AA
If you're comfortable working through multi-step algebra without a calculator, and you don't mind the occasional "prove that..." question, AA plays to your strengths. Students heading toward physics, engineering, or pure mathematics at university often choose AA because it aligns closely with what those degrees expect on day one.
AA HL is widely considered one of the more demanding IB subjects. If you're choosing HL mainly to keep options open rather than because you enjoy the style of work, it's worth being honest with yourself about the time commitment before committing.
